@niloufar__shiri and I thrilled to bring to Austin our dream project which has been part of our lives and in the making for almost a year now.
“Yearning, Every Dawn” is a live music journey, merging Iranian classical and western electronic sounds with Persian poetry. A laboratory for experimentation with composed and improvised music, the project features the Iranian kamancheh and live electronics. We strive to push the boundaries of contemporary music and use poetry as a tangible medium to express profound human experiences.
“Yearning, Every Dawn” was born out of a piece for voice, kamancheh, and live electronics, commission by Ojai in 2023 in collaboration with our brilliant friend, @taraling. The project blossomed into a concert-length program, celebrating the gorgeous musical contributions of our dear friends and exceptional artists @jessikakenney, @fariba_zahedi_, and @dodowndosia.
We were fortunate to develop the program at the most recent round of @banffcentre Musicians in Residence” program in January 2024.
We are grateful to the dadaLab team for their generosity in providing this amazing space to us.
