Celebrating the release of Trip Computer, Tom Hall returns with a high-resolution audio-visual journey shaped by memory, decay, and custom-built synthesis systems — a recalibration of two decades of sonic exploration. Austin’s own Alex DL brings a distinctive approach to trance and experimental club music. A longtime presence in Texas’s underground scene, his performances explore the creative potential of working with blending rhythmic intensity with a reflective, narrative-driven A/V experience. Rounding out the night, sv1 delivers a raw, rhythmic blend of power ambient and IDM, channeling noise, rap, and distortion into a soundscape built for liminal spaces. Expect a night of deep textures, shifting atmospheres, and genre-defying performances.

Featuring live quadraphonic music by:

Terminal 11 (PHX)

++ Immersive visuals by

Devras Plexi + panoptikon.party

Join us for an evening of auditory exploration at QUADRANT v8.0 – the eighth edition of dadageek's quadraphonic electronic music series, featuring spatial sound performance and real-time video art. Hosted at dadaLab, this event showcases the creative potential of quadraphonic sound—an audio format that utilizes four speakers positioned around the listener to create a more immersive listening experience.

Unlike traditional stereo, which limits sound to a left-right axis, quadraphonic audio allows artists to position and move sounds in a 360-degree space. This spatial approach opens up new possibilities for composition and performance, enabling more dynamic and engaging sonic experiences.

Each artist performing at QUADRANT v8.0 has developed a piece specifically for dadaLab’s 4-channel system, using spatial techniques to explore movement, texture, and atmosphere in sound. The result is a listening experience that encourages deeper attention to how sound interacts with space and perception. Prepare for an experience that challenges convention, transcends stereo, and envelops your senses.

Getting Started with MXR! Real Time 3D for VJs and Creators

This FREE workshop is an introduction to MXR, an exciting new real-time 3D tool for VJs and visual creators! MXR founder Eric Wagliardo will guide attendees through getting started with this powerful new creation tool. Learn more about MXR below and RSVP to secure a spot!

MXR empowers creators with a no-code, real-time 3D environment fueled by live data inputs—no scripting required. Simply drag & drop 3D models, effects, lights, and shaders into the viewport, then use intuitive node-based controls (like LFOs, MIDI, OSC, DMX, or audio analysis) to animate elements dynamically. Whether you're building immersive visuals for a concert, festival, LED wall, XR experience, or virtual production scene, MXR delivers Hollywood-grade VFX at high frame rates, optimized for responsive live performance.

With integrated tools—including Spout, PTZ camera automation, and GenAI workflows—MXR is an all-in-one visual engine. It supports standard 3D formats (OBJ, FBX, GLTF), offers AI-powered features like Stable Diffusion and simplifies live control for interactive experiences . Whether you're a seasoned VJ, visual designer, or emerging creator, MXR streamlines the creative process—letting you focus on storytelling, not code.

https://www.mixerxr.com/

Eric Wagliardo is a multi-disciplinary artist and founder of MXR and &Pull. As a professional dreamer, his work spans 20+ years working with a wide range of artists like Barry Can’t Swim, Childish Gambino, Anyma, Gorillaz, and Flume. He’s also led projects with brands and tech companies like Google and Stella Artois. MXR recently powered 30+ hours of real-time content on the Quasar stage and an XR showcase at Mutek Japan that blended projection mapping and Magic Leap headsets.

Workshop Schedule:

7:00 - 7:30 p.m. - Meet and greet hangout
7:30 - 8:45 p.m. - Workshop from Eric Wagliardo
8:45 - 9:30 p.m. - Working session! Time for experimentation and questions

Are there any requirements?

Nope! This workshop is tailored for anyone interested in visual content creation and VJing.

Build Your Own Fantasy IDE with Char Stiles!

Sunday, March 9 | 3-5:30p

dadaLab - 2008 Alexander Ave. Austin, TX.

// Don't miss Livecode @ dadaLab event after the workshop! More info here: https://events.humanitix.com/l...

This workshop is part of ongoing thesis research at the MIT Media Lab exploring new ways to make programming more expressive and engaging. Your experimental editors might help shape the future of creative coding tools!

Tired of the same old IDEs? Ever wanted to build your own experimental code editor? In this hands-on workshop, we'll dive into what it takes to make your own code editor and then break all the rules by creating our own weird and AI-laced variations. We'll start with a writing prompt and a journey through creative coding IDE history. Then we'll get our hands dirty by building off a basic web-based code editor for p5.js using JavaScript. Once we've got the foundations (syntax highlighting, basic editing features), things get interesting... We'll experiment with additions like:

  • Making your editor converse with you through an AI interface

  • Creating code snippets that evolve and mutate over time

  • Building new types of visualization and interaction patterns

  • Adding your own experimental features!

JavaScript experience and familiarity with web development basics are recommended.

You'll learn:

  • Essential libraries like CodeMirror Techniques for extending and customizing editor behavior Ways to integrate AI and generative systems into your editor

  • How to deploy your creation as a web application

  • How modern code editors actually work under the hood

By the end of the workshop, you'll have:

  • Built your own working web-based code editor

  • Added at least one experimental feature

  • Learned the technical foundations to continue developing your own tools

  • Contributed to research about the future of programming environments

Meet your Instructor!

Char Stiles is a computational artist, educator, and programmer. She works creatively in the lower levels of graphical computational systems & makes jokes about how computers work. She is currently at the MIT Media Lab's Future Sketches group researching the future of creative coding in performance. She is a part of the Livecode.nyc collective & she co-founded Hex House, an artist studio and event space in East Williamsburg. She has performed internationally, including festivals such as Electric Forest, Portola, and Mutek Nexus. She has lectured and led workshops at Carnegie Mellon University, Duke University, University of Limerick, MIT, and NYU.

David Slowing

David Slowing is a producer and musician currently residing in Austin, Texas. He makes ambient, evolving, and melodic compositions with the use of modular synthesizers, machine learning, algorithmic composition, sampling, and acoustic instruments, often around a theme or concept.

Bernard

Bernard is an insatiable performer and producer, chasing samplers, saxophones, and synthesizers across the stage, time, and space. His sound evokes Lynchian soundtracks, dirty beats, and ambient electronic textures. Bernard's structured improvisations are raw, captivating, and occasionally unnerving. For Quadrant v5.0, every accompanying sound is an instant artifact from the live saxophone in the room.
